A Mother’s Day Tribute

"The toughest job that requires 24 hours for 365 days. No break. No leaves. No vacations. No salary. Absolutely free."

Today is Mother’s Day. I wanted to take a few minutes to write a tribute to Mother’s everywhere, including me but especially to my mother. I hope you enjoy this piece. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!

What does it take to be a Mom?

In my own experience, being a mom require sacrifices, tons of patience, and dedication. In a company, there is a CEO which is the highest-ranking. At home, a mother is assigned to be a director for all operations. Why? For the first category, it requires mobility. This job requires to be able to work while standing upmost or really all the time. Constantly bending over; constantly exerting yourself to a high level of stamina. The hours? 135 hours--well, basically, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Wooh! Cruel right? A little intense! Wait there's more! Does it have a break? No. There's no break at all. No sick leaves. No vacations. No holidays and every holiday the workloads are gonna go up.

This position requires excellent negotiations and interpersonal skill. Plus, you must have a degree in medicine, finance, and culinary arts. May able to work in a chaotic environment, and if you had a life, it sort of requires you to give that life up. Why? This job needs dedication, focus, and utmost knowledge in every little aspect of everything and in anything under the sun.

Ok, let's cover the salary. How much do you think would be the salary of this position? Frankly, there's none. Absolutely free! Yet the connections that you're going to make is immeasurable, and the happiness that you'll get from this job is unfathomable. No amount can compensate the contentment, the joy; the feeling of accomplishment while doing this job, and putting your love unconditionally.

As an experienced mother, I now understand and appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of my mother before. It is not an easy job, that's why I am very thankful for her for guiding me all throughout. To all the mothers and soon-to-be mother, there's no such thing as a perfect mother. However, in the eyes of our family, we're truly perfect and outstanding in meeting the requirements to possess or to acquire this position.

“A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.” —Cardinal Mermillod

A woman of beauty, strength and intelligence. It's difficult, but it's rewarding. You have to be brave to be a mom. And in God’s guidance, we can surpass any hurdles as a mother. Now that you know what it takes to be a mother, it is indeed, the toughest job in the world.

Happy Mother's Day!
